Our Team
From take-off to landing, Thales offers the most complete range of solutions to provide dynamic Air Traffic Services to support today's growing domestic and international travel requirements. Utilising this knowledge and experience Thales Australia will deliver a harmonised Civil/Military Air Traffic Management System (CMATS / OneSKY) in Australia to Airservices Australia and Defence.
This will enable a new level of safety and efficiency, while also reducing delays for the travelling public and providing opportunities to improve environmental outcomes. OneSKY will transform Australia's sky and we are proud to be partners in its delivery.
This position supports and delivers Air Traffic Control (ATC) simulation and data training for the Thales CMATS Project, focusing on system analysis, design, delivery, and continuous improvement.
Your Role:
We are searching for candidates who have had experience in the use of Air Traffic Management systems, whether as a user (Air Traffic Controller) or systems specialist.
The attributes we're mainly searching for:
- Candidates familiar with the Air Traffic Services environment; and
 - Possess the aptitude to correlate how the data contained within a relational database impacts the end-users of the software applications they correspond with..
 
The key for this role is experience within an Air Traffic Services environment and training will be provided to the right candidate across the other data adaptation activities.
This is an initial 2-year fixed term contract-based hybrid at our Melbourne CBD location.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and validate simulation and ATC datasets (Air Traffic Control and Voice Communications System)
 - Facilitate ATS training sessions, including simulation configuration and management.
 - Operate and oversee Pseudo Pilot functions in training.
 - Develop, deliver, and maintain training materials through all project phases (analysis, design, development, delivery.
 - Assess training effectiveness and respond to ad-hoc training requests.
 - Prepare exercises, maintain datasets post-software upgrades .
 
Requirements:
- Australian citizenship (for defence clearance)
 - Experience with Air Traffic Management Systems (as a user or systems expert)
 - Demonstrable ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues arising during training delivery
 - Intermediate skills in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint).
 - Experience developing aviation simulation exercises for training environments . (desirable)
 
A Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain an appropriate clearance.
Additional information with regards to clearances is available from the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency website http://www.defence.gov.au/AGSVA/. In some cases, individuals who hold a current clearance from a foreign government may be eligible to have this clearance recognised by the Australian Government and be eligible for this role.The Australian Defence Trade Controls Act (DTCA) is applicable and as such, your nationality may be a factor in determining your suitability for this role.
