Santa Rosa, in the heart of California's beautiful wine country, is the corporate headquarters of Keysight, home to a diverse group of R&D labs. The Digital and Photonics R&D team develops and produces the world's highest performance oscilloscopes This internship is with a oscilloscope product R&D team inventing and developing new measurements for optical and electrical signals used to transport high speed data in transceivers at the heart of modern cloud and internet services.
Responsibilities
Our engineers develop software for our market-leading oscilloscopes. The development involves the full software lifecycle of requirements capture, investigation, product definition, design, implement, test, production and maintenance. They work with customers, manufacturing and software teams in other geographies world-wide. The position involves developing in C#/Managed C++/Windows .NET and controlling advanced measurement hardware.
Your internship will involve creating measurements & features, diagnostics and addressing defects, contributions to a specific R&D project underway. Likely projects for this internship include working with MATLAB and signal processing algorithms, depending on your knowledge of optical and electrical measurements such as RIN, jitter, eye metrics, and modulation quality metrics.
Qualifications
We are looking for:
- Undergraduate rising Senior or rising Master graduate candidate in Electrical and Computer Engineering and/or Computer Science or equivalent field of study. Project chosen will scale with experience level of intern.
- Exposure to signal processing algorithms such as sampling theory, digital filter implementation, digital modulation formats, FFT
- Exposure to basic electronic circuits such as amplifier, mixer, ADC, DAC, etc
- Strong problem-solving and quantitative data analysis skills. Ability to quickly learn new technologies.
- Demonstrated of excellent communication and teamwork skills, embracing a team coding environment
Strong pluses:
- Experience with C#, Windows .NET, C, C++ preferred, knowledge of MATLAB and signal processing/simulation tools
- Experience with Microsoft Visual Studio/Team Foundation 2019 or greater
- Experience with test & measurement instruments: oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, network analyzer, AWG, etc.
- Basic skills in Microsoft office software (MS Word, Excel). Technical presentation experience.
Candidates who wish to be considered must be enrolled in a accredited college/university as of September 2026. Applicants who have graduated before September 2026 will not be considered unless they are entering/applying to a MS or PHD program after graduating.

California pay range: MIN $35.90 - MAX 51.43 MAX
The level of role will be based on applicable experience, education and skills; Most offers will be between the minimum and the midpoint of the Salary Range listed below.
