- Project Leader, Civil
Description
Manage a cross functional team in the design, build, and commissioning of facility construction projects for new or existing manufacturing facilities. Apply fundamental engineering principles to develop, design, and resolve solutions to a variety of technical problems related to Civil, Structural, Environmental, and Architectural systems and processes.
Day to Day Responsibilities:
Lead project team, including external engineering and construction management firms in the design, construction, and turnover to manufacturing operations. This includes ensuring the project’s compliance with safety, scope schedule, cost, and other project specific deliverables such as those associated with product quality, equipment and process capability, machine and line rates, equipment uptime, etc.
Deliver strong project leadership skills through the project initiation, planning, implementation and closeout phases.
Develop the Statements of work and RFPs for Consultants, CMs, and/or Contractors related to the specific projects.
Lead, guide, coach & help develop internal Corning & contingent employees as well as external contractors to meet the project requirements.
Establish requirements and acceptance criteria with customer.
Assist in the evaluation and verify justification for project. This includes providing inputs on cost, schedule and resources for various scenarios under consideration.
Identifies and drives key decisions for such things as scope, design, schedule, spending, vendor selection, etc.
Requirements
Must be available for significant travel, primarily domestic, to multiple locations to support business needs. International travel could be required as well.
Project assignments can be in excess of 1-2 years in duration.
Flexibility is required
Normal Business Hours (8 – 5, M – F): however, expected to work hours required to achieve objectives
May include weekend and off-shift hours.
Required Education:
BS degree in Civil, Structural, Architectural or equivalent
Required Years and Area of Experience:
7 years of engineering and professional work experience.
