This position can be located in the Greater Cleveland, OH, area at the Warrensville Technical Center, Greensboro, NC, or Columbus, OH and will support the Industrial Wood Division. This high exposure position will have interaction with Sales, Technical Services, Marketing, Technical, Quality, Operations, and Accounting teams to lead customer-facing projects and improve product quality. The incumbent will teach and coach Six Sigma methodologies within the Technical Service and Sales teams, mentor Six Sigma certification candidates, lead high impact Continuous Improvement projects, interface with customers, support and lead Accelerated Root Cause investigations, and help identify key areas of opportunity for the business and its customers.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
1) Lead customer-facing Continuous Improvement (CI) projects
i. Support sales and technical teams to develop solutions for articulated and unarticulated business needs of strategic customers, including gap analysis, House of Quality (HOQ), and customer innovation sessions
ii. Apply advanced statistical techniques, Design of Experiments (DOE), Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA), etc. to the evaluation and resolution of technical problems
iii. Support the Technical Service and Sales organization in executing CI projects at customers
2) Lead customer technical data analysis and insights
iv. Analyze data gathered by our Technical Service Team to identify insights that can create processing advantages (faster run rates, higher yield, fewer defects, etc.) at our customers
v. Provide insights back to R&D organization to inform product refinement and new product development
vi. Collaborate with Quality Team to identify opportunities to reduce PQRs and improve the customer experience
3) Lead Six Sigma and Lean methodology adoption within the Technical Service & Sales teams
i. Teach / mentor employees in the understanding of the DMAIC, and Lean methodology to enable more effective customer conversations
ii. Collaborate with L&OD and the Technical Training Manager to develop/adopt training materials for Technical Service
iii. Coach / mentor DFSS Green Belt and Black Belt candidates to ensure timely completion of projects and candidate certifications
iv. Participate on certification review board for certification of Green Belt and Black Belt candidates
4) Influence organization by initiating and driving change and process improvement; cultivate a culture and mindset of Continuous Improvement
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• Must be legally authorized to work in the country for which you are applying for employment (without now or in the future needing sponsorship for employment work visa and/or permanent residence status).
• Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math field.
• Six Sigma Black Belt OR Currently enrolled in Black Belt Certification program
• Execution of training in Statistics, Design for Six Sigma, Lean, and/or Six Sigma (5+ years)
• Strong problem and analytical solving skills
• Strong communication / presentation skills
• Creation and utilization of effective measures
• 5 years business / operations / technical experience
• Coaching / mentoring through project completions
• Project execution
• Highly proficient with Minitab software or in other statistical software
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Six Sigma portfolio management (2+ years)
• Technical mastery of Design for Six Sigma and / or Six Sigma tools and methodologies including DFSS, DMAIC, or Lean
• Advanced degree preferred.
