Benefits
People come first: No one was prepared for the utter devastation of the Tubbs fire that swept through Santa Rosa in October 2017, impacting Keysight headquarters as well as 1500 employees and their families. CEO Ron Nersesian’s messages to employees emphasized Keysight’s people-first policy. Within 30 hours of the fire, all employees and contractors were notified that they would not lose their jobs and that they’d receive full pay regardless of how long the recovery took. Within 48 hours, a Keysight Emergency Response Center was established, distributing food, water, clothing, and toiletries, as well as providing a place for people to connect, help and support each other, and receive counseling. Keysight provided $10,000 to each of the 119 employees who lost their homes, and $1,000 to each employee who was evacuated.
High-performance culture: Our One Keysight value nurtures a united, adaptable, collaborative, diverse, inclusive, respectful, supportive, and safe community. We understand the important connection between work and life. In our high-performance environment, employees are empowered by the flexibility to meet their obligations outside of work when necessary and to love the work they do.
Keysight sponsors activities that make the workplace enjoyable. In Santa Rosa, a large garden enables employees to pursue their horticultural interests. The NextGen group helps new hires connect to their new environment, while the Hackathon program brings together software engineers to tackle today’s toughest challenges in a fun way. Keysight provides facilities and equipment for sports and recreational activities such as cycling, basketball, softball, volleyball, kayaking, and disk golf, to name a few.
Flexibility for work/life balance: Keysight believes that the optimal work environment varies from employee to employee. While Keysight has facilities around the world, many positions don’t require the employee to work on-site. We have invested in collaborative tools that enable this flexibility, saving commuting time for employees and allowing work teams to consist of individuals geographically separate. Employees receive flexible time off starting at 20 days per year, plus 11 paid holidays each calendar year. Most employees can set their own hours, with management approval.
Keysight offers a range of leave-of-absence programs that provides time off for various reasons, including employees’ medical conditions or that of a family member, maternity/paternity, educational pursuits, and extended personal travel. A military leave of absence may be requested for up to five years. Part-time employment and job sharing are available. We offer on-site perks such as fitness centers, yoga classes, meditation rooms, and sports clubs.
Best-in-class benefits: Employees are our greatest asset, and their holistic well-being matters to us. Keysight’s benefits packages include competitive salaries and results-based incentives, health benefits, retirement programs, 401(k) matching, equity programs, dependent care, and healthcare savings plans, as well as life insurance packages. Employees may enroll a same or opposite-sex domestic partner and eligible dependents for health benefits and life insurance coverage. For newly hired employees, Keysight provides a 401(k) plan which includes company matching contributions of 100% on the first 4% of employee contributions and $0.50 of the employee’s next 4% of contributions for a total matching contribution of up to 6%. Keysight also offers an Employee Stock Purchase Plan under which employees may purchase Keysight stock at a 15% discount. Employees can purchase goods and services at corporate-negotiated discounts.
Training and development: Keysight believes in investing in our employees by providing them with the skills they need to succeed to create greater value in our rapidly changing industry. We offer training and development through a wide range of programs, workshops, classes, and resources. Keysight University hosts a catalog of online/instructor-led training modules ranging from engineering, technical topics, leadership, and management. Employees can map out their development plans with support from their managers and align them with the needs of the organization. Tuition reimbursement policies and distance learning degree programs with major universities supplement our educational offerings. Keysight’s Emeritus Program allows for our most experienced members of the company’s best-in-class workforce to coach, train, mentor, and transfer knowledge to the next generation of employees. For our sales and marketing teams, we invest in a one-week face-to-face training session called Keysight Insight.
Giving and CSR: We have a long tradition of outstanding corporate citizenship, and we’re proud of the role we’ve played to enrich the many communities of which we are a part. Keysight employees overwhelmingly gave to the Keysight Employee Relief Fund to help colleagues affected by the Santa Rosa fires, donating vacation days as well as money. With a focus on strengthening local and global communities, Keysight ended the fiscal year 2022 having surpassed its annual community goal by contributing more than $284 million in value through philanthropic giving, volunteerism, sponsorships, and university engagement programs. Our Corporate Giving Program provides employees with many opportunities to give financially, and the Keysight Technologies Foundation will match eligible employee contributions dollar for dollar (100%) up to certain country-specific matching caps.
Nurturing future engineers: To solve the problems facing our society and planet, we need to close the skills gap in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math), which means increasing student interest in STEM subjects and building skills in these areas. The Keysight After School (KAS) program is a hands-on science course for children and features 23 different life, physical, and earth-science experiments ‘in a box’ that provides young problem solvers with an experience they will never forget, from building electronic-circuit games to exploring clean-water engineering. This program is led by Keysight volunteers and is delivered completely free of charge.
We partner with HBCUs, providing mentoring for senior project teams, internships and scholarship opportunities, advisory engagements, and equipment donations. The HBCU partnerships have resulted in an expanded pipeline of must-hire candidates as well as new hires directly from the program.
In addition, in 2022, we hosted a prestigious, worldwide, women-led student competition, the Keysight Innovation Challenge, and extended a partnership with the Mathematics Engineering Science Achievement (MESA) association. In 2022, Keysight continued its second-year sponsorship of the Mathematics Engineering Science Achievement (MESA) organization. MESA is focused on helping underrepresented students achieve success in STEM studies. Throughout the year, Keysight mentors supported STEM engineering students, keeping in touch with mentees, and helping with mock interviews and resume reviews.
Advancing women engineers: Keysight actively supports and sponsors our engineers to attend Society of Women Engineers (SWE) conferences and leadership training. The Keysight SWE Enterprise Program (KSWEEP) promotes activities that empower and inspire female employees to reach their full potential with the right support and connections so that they, in turn, inspire others.
In recent years, Keysight’s very own employees Gail Heck-Sweeney and manager Liz Ruetsch were named winners of the SWE global leadership award. Volunteers like Liz and Gail serve as role models for middle and high school girls in the San Francisco area through programs like Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day (IGED) and Girls Exploring Science Technology Engineering and Math (GESTEM).
As noted in STEM education, multiple new and extended STEM education partnerships were initiated in fiscal year 2022 to support materials and education for students and teachers focused on women and underrepresented minority development. Keysight’s Innovation Challenge hosted 52 women-led university teams worldwide.
Volunteering: Our corporate giving program provides employees with many opportunities to give financially and to volunteer on Keysight time (i.e., 4 hours/month or 6 days/year). Recent activities include Tour de Keysight cycling/walking event for charity, North Bay Heart Walk, Habitat for Humanity projects, Care and Share Food Bank, Canine Companions for Independence, and countless environmental projects at parks and open spaces. Julie Silk, Keysight's environmental compliance manager, won a Women in Business award for founding Keysight’s Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day (IGED).
Local culture and individuality: We take pride in our local cultures and believe that the freedom of personal expression and individuality bonds us and provides the camaraderie and motivation to perform at our best. For example, in Colorado, many employees enjoy nature, the outdoors, and volunteering. A group of next-generation employees created a disc golf course around the Colorado Springs campus while making excellent use of the mature trees and landscaping surrounding our property. A few years later, we had our first employee tournament as part of the United Way campaign. It was such a success that Keysight granted extra in the budget to purchase custom discs for all participants, as well as chain baskets, and cement pads for the tee boxes. In California, we focus on the environment as seen with our solar panel installation at the Santa Rosa campus to reduce our carbon footprint, our award-winning recycling processes, and our beloved vegetable gardens.
